On February 2, 1983, Trooper Brian N. Rovnak, 39, died in a one-car accident on Interstate 84, five miles east of the Taconic Parkway.

Trooper Gary E. Kubasiak was shot and killed August 30, 1982, after responding to the scene of a reported domestic dispute.

Trooper Thomas L. Pryme, 35, was killed on July 24, 1982, in a automobile crash on Route 56 near the village of Potsdam.

On November 29, 1971, Investigator Thomas Buck, punctured his finger securing a needle as evidence while making an arrest for illegal possession of a hypodermic needle.

Investigator Robert L. VanHall, Jr., 35, was shot and killed on December 5, 1980.

Trooper James A. Kelly, Jr., 31, was killed in a traffic accident on August 8, 1980.

Trooper Robert J. Gaylo, 42, died as a result of an automobile accident on May 13, 1980.

Zone Sergeant Gerald A. DeGroot, 48, died in the City of Watertown on June 24, 1978.

Trooper William V. McDonagh was shot and killed on December 14, 1975 when responded to a fight in the hamlet of Sugar Loaf.

Trooper Emerson J. Dillon died October 24, 1974, after being shot by armed robbers.
