Trooper Covel C. Pierce, 60, died on March 10, 2011, as a result of brain cancer stemming from his assignment to the World Trade Center Site following the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001.
Trooper David J. Lane was killed on November 4, 2009 on State Route 32, in the town of Catskill, Greene County, while enforcing the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
