Trooper Steven P. Bilodeau became a Member of the New York State Police on September 25, 1978. He entered into a Service retirement on April 11, 2010. 

On August 22, 2024, Trooper Bilodeau died as a result of an illness stemming from his assignment to the World Trade Center site, following the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. 

In response to the attacks of 9/11, Trooper Bilodeau was assigned to aid with the search and recovery efforts in New York City, as part of the New York State Police Detail.

Trooper Bilodeau is survived by his wife and two daughters.
