Visitor Caught Attempting to Smuggle Contraband into Greenhaven Prison

On June 14, 2025, a New York State Trooper assigned to SP Poughkeepsie responded to Greenhaven Correctional Facility in the Town of Beekman following a report of contraband being introduced into the facility by a visitor.

Following an investigation, authorities determined that Dawn M. Jones-Mills, 60, of Buffalo, NY, had smuggled over 200 pills and approximately 26 pieces of legal paper treated with an unknown substance into the prison.

As a result of the investigation, Jones-Mills was arrested and charged with the following offenses:

*Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 5th Degree: Intent to Sell (class D felony)

*Knowingly Introducing Dangerous Contraband into a Prison in the 1st Degree (class D felony)

*Two Counts of Promoting Prison Contraband in the 2nd Degree (class A misdemeanor)

Jones-Mills was arraigned in the Town of Beekman Court and released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to reappear in the Town of Beekman Court on June 26, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
