On February 15, 2025, at approximately 11:07 a.m., Troopers from State Police Liberty responded to a one-car motor vehicle collision on Ferndale Loomis Road in the town of Liberty.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2019 Chevy pickup truck was traveling westbound on Ferndale Loomis Road when it veered off the road to the right, striking a utility pole and overturning. The operator and sole occupant of the vehicle identified as Charles Shauger, age 59, of Sparrow Bush, NY, was extricated from the vehicle and was transported to Garnet Health Medical Center Catskill for treatment. Shauger was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. The investigation is ongoing.

On February 15,2025, at approximately 11:07 a.m., The New York State Police at Liberty responded to a one-car fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on Ferndale Loomis Road in the town of Liberty. The operator and sole occupant of the 2019 Chevy Pick up Truck was pronounced deceased at Garnet Hospital Catskill. The investigation is ongoing, updates to follow at a later time.
