On April 15, 2025, at about 1:29 p.m., troopers responded to a reported crash on State Route 9H north of Falls Road in the town of Ghent.
The preliminary investigation determined that a 2010 Chrysler Sebring being driven by Zachary Seyerlein, age 26, of Stockport, NY, was traveling north on SR-9H, when his vehicle crossed over the centerline into the southbound lane and collided with a dump truck operated by Wayne Keyes, 55, of Niverville, NY. The Chrysler came to rest off the east shoulder, while the dump truck stopped on the west side of the road and became engulfed in flames.
Seyerlein was pronounced deceased at the scene. Keyes was able to get out of the burning dump truck and was transported to Albany Medical Center by the Valatie Rescue Squad for treatment of minor injuries.
The Ghent and West Ghent fire departments responded and extinguished the fire.
Members of the NY State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Collision Reconstruction Unit, and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit responded to the scene.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

On April 15, 2025, at about 1:45 p.m., State Police responded to a motor vehicle collision between a passenger vehicle and a dump truck on Route 9H at Falls Road in Ghent. One person is confirmed deceased at the scene.
SR-9H is closed between County Route 22 and County Route 25 for the investigation.
