UPDATED: New York State Police Investigate a Homicide in Monticello

On November 13, 2024, the New York State Police Liberty Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) arrested Jonte Wunner, age 26, of Monticello, NY, for the murder of Jose Rodriguez. Wunner was charged with Murder Second Degree ( class “A” felony), Concealment of a Human Corpse ( class “E” felony), and Tampering with Physical Evidence (class “E” felony). 

Wunner was arraigned on November 13, 2024, at the Sullivan County Court in front of Honorable Judge James Farrell and remanded to Albany County Jail.

Monticello, NY – The New York State Police, in conjunction with the Village of Monticello Police Department and the Sullivan County District Attorney's Office, are investigating a homicide that occurred at 20 Lakewood Avenue, in the Village of Monticello on October 5, 2024.

The victim has been identified as Jose Rodriguez, 42, a resident of Monticello. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information related to this homicide is urged to contact SP Liberty BCI at (845) 292-0280.
