*Update* State Police responding to serious two-car crash on Thruway in Ulster County

Update: December 10, 2025, at 11:30 a.m.

On December 9, 2025, at approximately 1:52 p.m., troopers from the New York State Police Thruway Kingston barracks responded to a two-vehicle motor-vehicle collision on the New York State Thruway (I-87) northbound near milepost marker 83, in the town of Rosendale.

The preliminary investigation determined that a 2007 Nissan was traveling southbound on I-87 and entered the U-turn at mile marker 83 from the southbound lanes. A 2023 Kia was traveling northbound in the left lane when it collided with the Nissan as it was executing the U-turn into the northbound lanes. The impact caused the Nissan to roll over several times. Following the collision, the Kia exited the left lane and struck the guide rail.

The passenger of the Nissan, identified as Esther Oliveras, age 81, of Elizaville, NY, received lifesaving measures at the scene but ultimately succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased on site. The driver of the Nissan, Guillermo Olivera, age 84, also of Elizaville, NY, was transported to Westchester Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Kia, identified as Amiah Desiah Lea Corp, age 21, of Schenectady, NY, was transported to Westchester Medical Center in critical condition.

At approximately 2:05 p.m. on December 9, 2025, troopers from New York State Police Troop T responded to a two-car collision on I-87 northbound between Exits 18 and 19 in the town of Rosendale. Two subjects are in serious condition; a third subject has non-life-threatening injuries. State Police, fire and EMS are on scene. The investigation is continuing, and more details will be released as available.
