**UPDATE**


On July 1, 2024 New York State Troopers responded to a report of a dog tied to a light pole on the Southern State Parkway.  The dog was taken to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter in Wantagh and the State Police initiated an investigation to identify the person responsible for abandoning Roxi the Mastiff.  The State Police are grateful for the assistance provided by the public and the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office.  Troopers were able to identify a suspect and on August 1st, 2024 located and arrested Glenroy J. Bramble, age 65, and charged him under the Agriculture and Markets Law with Abandonment of an Animal (Unclassified Misdemeanor) and Failing to Provide Appropriate Shelter for a Dog (Violation).  Bramble was issued appearance tickets and is due to appear at Nassau County District Court on August 19th at 9:00 a.m.
 



On July 1st, 2024 at approximately 5:30 a.m., Troopers responded to the Southern State Parkway Westbound in the area of Exit 21 for reports of a dog tied to a light pole. Upon arrival, Troopers observed a white female Mastiff to be tied to a light pole by her leash with a dog bowl filled with food and note next to it. The Mastiff was safely taken to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter for evaluation. Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter did state that the dog was not microchipped.

This incident is under investigation and the State Police is asking for any witnesses or anyone with information to call (631) 756-3300.
