The body recovered from the Catskill Creek has been identified as Mckinley Smith, age 32, of Catskill, NY. The cause of death is still under investigation.

On November 2, 2025, at approximately 11:29 a.m., troopers from the New York State Police Coxsackie barracks responded to a report of a body floating in the Catskill Creek in the Village of Catskill.
Upon arrival, troopers recovered the body of an unidentified male from the water. The investigation is being conducted by the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) in Catskill and the Troop F Forensic Identification Unit (FIU).
The investigation is in its early stages, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
The State Police was assisted by Greene County Sherrif’s Office and Catskill Village Police Department.
