Update:
Harris was arraigned today, April 2, 2024 at 1:00 p.m., in the Town of Elizabethtown Court, where he was remanded to Essex County Jail without bail. 

On April 2, 2024, an autopsy was performed at Glens Falls Hospital on William E. Ball.  The autopsy determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the right shoulder, and Forensic Pathologist, Doctor Michael Sikirica has ruled the manner of death a homicide.

Update:

The State Police executed multiple search warrants on April 1, 2024, resulting in the arrest of Qwavon M. Harris, age 28, of Brooklyn, NY.  Harris was located at the Stewart’s Shop in Elizabethtown by the Essex County Sheriff's Department and taken into custody. He was turned over to State Police. Harris was charged with Murder 2nd degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd (2 counts).  Harris is held in Essex County Jail awaiting pre-arraignment scheduled for today, April 2, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Town of Elizabethtown Court.

The investigation is ongoing, and State Police continue to ask for anyone who lives on Lincoln Pond Road to check their security cameras for any suspicious activity.  If anyone has information regarding this incident is asked to call State Police at 518-873-2777.

Update

A preliminary investigation determined an altercation occurred on Lincoln Pond Road in the town of Elizabethtown, resulting in a shooting and the suspect fleeing into the adjacent woods.  Troopers arrived on scene and located a deceased male in a vehicle who had sustained a gunshot wound.  The deceased male is identified as William E. Ball, age 40, of Moriah, NY. An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.

This investigation is ongoing, and the State Police are executing multiple search warrants to gather evidence. The shooting does not appear to be a random act of violence and there is no ongoing threat the community. The State Police are being assisted by the Essex County District Attorney’s office as well as the Essex County Sheriff’s Department and NY State Forest Rangers. Local Fire Departments and EMS also assisted.

On April 1, 2024, at approximately 5:31 a.m., State Police members responded to a location near 4829 Lincoln Pond Road in the town of Elizabethtown for a report of a shooting.  Troopers arrived on scene and located a deceased male inside a vehicle.
