At approximately 4:44 p.m. on November 1, 2025, Troopers from State Police Troop T responded to a three-vehicle accident on I-87 northbound near Exit 23 in the town of Bethlehem. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2011 Chevrolet sedan (V1) driven by William F. McAllister, 37, of Ringgold, Virginia, was driving north in the left lane at a high rate of speed when it attempted to move into the right lane, sideswiping a 2009 Ram pickup truck (V2) on its driver’s side. V1 then veered back into the left lane where it rear-ended a 2025 Chevrolet sedan (V3). V1 came to a stop on the right (east) shoulder, while V3 came to a stop on the left (west) shoulder after striking the guardrail. The driver of V3, a female, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger of V3 was transported to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of V2 and a passenger were both transported to Albany Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. McAllister, the driver of V1, was administered standardized field sobriety tests, which showed no signs of impairment. McAllister was administered a preliminary breath test, which was negative for the presence of alcohol. He was transported to Albany Medical Center for medical evaluation. McAllister was charged with multiple vehicle and traffic law violations. SP Latham Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) is continuing the investigation.
