On March 13, 2024, Wang and Zheng were arraigned in the Colonie Town Court for the additional charges of:

Kevin B. Wang

  • Criminal possession of a Weapon in the first degree, class “B” felony
  • Three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, a class “B” felony
  • Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the fourth degree, a class “C” felony
  • Twenty-eight counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, a class “D” felony
  • two counts of Criminal Possession of a firearm, a class “E” felony.

Kyle E. Zheng

  • Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, a class “D” felony

These charges resulted from the continued investigation and discoveries made during the execution of search warrants. On March 1, 2024, warrants were executed at the homes of Wang and Zheng in Colonie, NY.

Two additional residences were discovered belonging to Wang. On March 5, 2024, and March 6, 2024, additional search warrants were executed at those Colonie, NY, locations, resulting in the discovery of more illegally possessed non-compliant firearms and gun parts.

 

Both Wang and Zheng remain in the custody of the Rensselaer County Correctional Facility at this time.

ORIGINAL 3/4/2024 at 12:52 p.m. 

On March 1, 2024, State Police of Brunswick, in conjunction with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, arrested Kevin B. Wang, 28, of Colonie, NY, Kyle E. Zheng, 22, of Colonie, NY, each for three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the second degree, a class “C” felony and nine counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, a class “D” felony.

On March 1, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m., a New York State Forest Ranger encountered Wang and Zheng illegally target shooting at Pittstown State Forest in Grafton, NY. The Ranger determined two subjects were in possession of multiple illegal, non-compliant firearms. The Ranger confiscated the guns at the scene, and brought the subjects to SP Brunswick.

A joint investigation was initiated, which led to the execution of two search warrants in Albany County, NY with the assistance of the New York State Police Special Investigation Unit (SIU).

Those searches yielded the discovery of the following:

  • two 3D printers
  • multiple lower and upper receivers, including 3D printed parts
  • armorer tools utilized for the assembly of guns
  • numerous completed firearms, including a ghost gun
  • numerous boxes of ammunition
  • body armor
  • methamphetamines
  • Psilocybin mushrooms
  • US currency

Wang and Zheng were arrested and processed at SP Brunswick. They were arraigned at the Grafton Town Court and remanded to the Rensselaer County Correctional Facility without bail. 

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected.
