UPDATE: State Police arrest Liverpool contractor for Grand Larceny

UPDATE:

Due to additional victims coming forward, State Police responded to the Onondaga County Justice Center on December 12, 2024, and placed Dakota A. Smith under arrest for:

(2) counts of Grand Larceny 2nd (class “C” Felony) 
(1) count of Grand Larceny 3rd (class “D” Felony)
(3) counts of Scheme to Defraud 1st. (class “E” Felony)

Dakota A. Smith was transported to SP North Syracuse where he was processed without incident and then returned to the Onondaga County Justice Center with a pending arraignment date of December 12, 2024 at 5:30 p.m.

On November 5, 2024, State Police of North Syracuse arrested Dakota A. Smith, 29, of Liverpool, NY, for Grand Larceny in the third degree, class “D” felony.

On October 10, 2024, the NYSP Bureau of Criminal Investigation received a complaint from an Onondaga County resident advising a contractor had taken a more than $5,000 deposit but failed to start the work in August of 2024. Smith failed to start the project or return the victim’s money.

Smith was arraigned at Onondaga County CAP court for arraignment and held at the Onondaga County Justice Center without bail.
