*Update* New York State Police investigate robbery at Savannah Bank in Port Byron

On January 7, 2025, law enforcement obtained video surveillance in the Seneca Street area. A search was executed at 2 Seneca Street in the village of Port Byron. Weldon R. Malone Jr, age 58, of Auburn, NY, was taken into custody. Malone was charged with Robbery 3rd (D Felony) and Grand Larceny 4th (E Felony). Malone was taken to Cayuga County Jail for CAP arraignment. During the course of the investigation, information was obtained regarding a second suspect.

On January 10, 2025, information was developed indicating that suspect Brandon C. Millhoff, age 48, of Auburn, NY, was staying at Dilaj's Motor Inn located at 7430 N St. Road., Auburn. State Police responded to the Inn and located Millhoff. He was attempting to hide in a common area of the Inn. Millhoff resisted arrest while being taken into custody. Millhoff was charged with Robbery 3rd (D Felony), Grand Larceny 4th (E Felony), and Resisting Arrest (A Misdemeanor). Millhoff was taken to Cayuga County Jail for CAP arraignment.

The New York State Police were assisted by the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office, Auburn Police Department, Port Byron Police Department and New York State Parole. We would like to thank the public for their assistance with this incident.

The New York State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred on January 6, 2025 at the Savannah Bank, located at 126 Main Street in the village of Port Byron.

At approximately 3:25 p.m., a male suspect entered the bank and approached a teller and demanded money. The suspect left the premises immediately after taking the money and was last seen walking southbound on Main Street.

The suspect was described as a male wearing a black cloth mask, a grey jacket, and grey pants.
