*UPDATE* New York State Police investigate death in Jefferson County

An autopsy and toxicology report determined the cause of death was the result of a rare heart defect that went undetected.  The investigation into the death of Jordan is officially closed.

On May 19, 2024, at approximately 03:16 a.m., State Police in Watertown responded to a private residence in the village of Evans Mills for an unconscious male laying in the driveway. The male, identified as Jordan P. Drake, age 16, from Theresa, NY was transported to Samaritan Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased.

Preliminary investigation revealed the male was attending an after-prom event at a private residence in the town of Theresa earlier in the evening.

The investigation is ongoing.

State Police were assisted at the scene by Evans Mills Ambulance.
