UPDATE: Father and mother of child indicted by Delaware County Grand Jury

UPDATE: As a result of an investigation in concert with Delaware County District Attorney’s office into the death of a 3-year-old child in Deposit, a Delaware County Grand Jury has indicted James Christ Jr. (the child’s father), age 27 of Deposit, NY on Murder in the second degree, a class “A-I” felony.  

The child’s mother, Marielys Ramos, age 27 of Unadilla, NY has been indicted on Reckless Endangerment in the first degree, a class “D” felony and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a misdemeanor.  

Christ Jr. and Ramos are currently at the Delaware County Correctional Facility, pending arraignment.  
 

ORIGINAL PRESS: On May 11, 2024, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested James Christ Jr., age 26 of Deposit, NY for the  class “B” felony of Assault in the first degree and class “C” felony of Manslaughter in the second degree.  

On May 10, Troopers were dispatched to an address on Fair Street in Deposit after a toddler became unresponsive.  Following an investigation, it was determined that Christ recklessly caused the death of the child.

Christ was arrested late Friday and arraigned at Central Arraignment and Processing this morning.

He was remanded to the Delaware County Jail on no bail.
