On November 12, 2024, at approximately 2:04 A.M., State Police Thruway (SP Newburgh) conducted a traffic stop on Interstate 87 northbound at MPM 62.4 in the town of Newburgh. During the traffic stop interview, both occupants gave conflicting stories, and the passenger, later identified as Terry T. Westberry, provided a false name. During a consent search of the vehicle, Troopers recovered a fully loaded Micro Draco Romania pistol with 19 rounds of ammunition along with a backpack with an additional loaded magazine. The Troopers placed both subjects under arrest without incident and transported them to SP Newburgh for arrest processing.
Mar’quintez T. McGhee, age 20, from Columbus, Georgia, was arrested for the following:
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, class “C” felony
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, class “D” felony (possession of a weapon)
- Criminal Possession of a Firearm, class “E” felony
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, Ammunition Feeding Device
Terry T. Westberry, age 44, from Columbus, Georgia, was arrested for Criminal Impersonation 2nd degree, a class “A” misdemeanor.
