Two Arrested Following Traffic Stop on I-87 in Possession of Narcotics and Ghost Gun

On August 25, 2025, at approximately 11:40 a.m., members of the Troop F Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) observed a 2008 Jeep operating in violation of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law on Interstate 87 (New York State Thruway) in the Town of Plattekill.

Troopers initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as Jessiah J. Haynes, age 25, and the front seat passenger as Ashley L. Guilder, age 31, both of Amsterdam, NY. During the investigation, it was determined that Haynes was operating the vehicle with a suspended driver’s license.

New York State Police K9 Kell, conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle and indicated a positive alert for the presence of narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed the following:

               •              Approximately 149 grams of cocaine

               •              A Polymer 80 .9mm semi-automatic “ghost gun”

In addition, Guilder was found to be in possession of:

               •              Approximately .4 grams of crack cocaine

               •              Approximately 13.2 grams of suboxone

Haynes and Guilder were taken into custody and transported to State Police Thruway Newburgh for processing without further incident.

Haynes was charged with the following:

•              Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, class A-II felony

•              Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Intent to Sell, class B felony

•              Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, class C felony

•              Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Previous Conviction, class D felony

•              Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Ammunition Feeding Device, class D felony

•              Criminal Possession of a Firearm, class E felony

•              Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree, Unclassified misdemeanor

•              Multiple Uniform Traffic Tickets.

Guilder was charged with the following:

•              Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd Degree, class A-II felony

•              Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Intent to Sell, class B felony

•              Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, class C felony

•              Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Previous Conviction, class D felony

•              Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Ammunition Feeding Device, class D felony

•              Criminal Possession of a Firearm, class E felony

•              Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, class A misdemeanor

Following processing, Haynes and Guilder were transported to the Ulster County Jail Central Arraignment Part for arraignment. Both individuals were remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail. The investigation is ongoing.
