Troopers make notable DWI arrest over the weekend

On February 23, 2024, Troopers arrested Bruce T. Burke, age 52, of Rouses Point, NY for driving while intoxicated.  On February 23, 2024, at approximately 7:40 a.m., Troopers observed a red 2018 Toyota Camry traveling southbound on I-87, in the town of Champlain violating vehicle and traffic laws.  The Trooper initiated a traffic stop, interviewed the driver, who was identified as Bruce, and passenger was identified as Makayla L. Burke.  As the Troopers were speaking with Bruce, he was showing signs of impairment.  Troopers administered Standardized Field Sobriety Test, which Bruce failed.  Bruce was arrested and transported to SP Plattsburgh, where he provided a breath sample of .09% BAC.  He was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Champlain Court for a later date in March.

On February 24, 2024, Troopers arrested Daniel G. Mach, age 28, of Whitehall, NY for aggravate driving while intoxicated, and issued vehicle traffic tickets. On February 24, 2024, at approximately 12:19 a.m., Troopers observed a blue 2005 Chevrolet Venture traveling on Montcalm Street in the village of Ticonderoga violating vehicle and traffic laws.  Ticonderoga Police Department and Troopers initiated a traffic stop, interviewed the driver, who was identified as Mach.  While interviewing Mach, he was showing signs of impairment. Mach failed the standardized field Sobriety test.  He was arrested and transported to SP Schroon Lake for processing.  Mach provided a breath sample of .20% BAC.  He was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Ticonderoga Town Court for a later date in March.

On February 24, 2024, Troopers arrested Billie B. Merrick, age 60, of Potsdam, NY for operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs 1st, criminal possession of controlled substance 7th, and issued vehicle and traffic tickets.  Lynn M. Fisher, age 47, of Madrid, NY for criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th. On February 24, 2024, at approximately 3:54 p.m., Troopers observed a green 1995 Chevrolet C/K 3500 dump truck traveling on US Highway 11B in the town of Stockholm violate the vehicle and traffic laws.  Trooper followed the truck onto County Route 47, initiated a traffic stop, interviewed the driver who was identified as Merrick, and passenger was identified as Fisher.  As the Trooper was interviewing the driver, he was showing signs of impairment.  Troopers administered standardized field sobriety test, which Merrick failed.  Merrick was placed in custody and during a safety search, he was found in possession of a smoking device and drug paraphernalia.  Additional Fisher was searched, and she was found to be in possession of a smoking device.  Merrick and Fisher were arrested and transported to SP Canton for processing.  Both were released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Stockholm Court for a later date in March.

On February 24, 2024, Troopers arrested Ted C. Krywanczyk, age 53, of Massena, NY for operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs 1st. On January 3, 2024, Troopers responded to County Route 53, in the town of Brasher for personal injury accident.  An investigation determined; operator of a blue 2021 Chevrolet Silverado was identified as Krywanczyk.  He was traveling east on Dullea Road at an excessive speed, exited the roadway on the east shoulder, and struck a tree.  Krywanczyk was unconscious and transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital.  Prior to Krywanczyk arriving to the hospital, EMS administered naloxone.  While interviewing Krywanczyk, he was showing signs of impairment.  A blood test kit was completed and submitted; the toxicology report showed at the time of the accident Krywanczyk was impaired with drugs.

On February 25, 2024, Troopers arrested John S. Snow Jr, age 39, of Hogansburg, NY for driving while intoxicated.  On December 21, 2023, at approximately 2:56 a.m., Troopers responded to personal injury accident on North Raquette River Road in the town of Massena. An investigation determined, an operator of gray 2006 Jeep was identified as Snow.  Troopers arrived and observe the vehicle off the roadway and a struck a tree.  As the Troopers interviewed Snow, he was showing signs of impairment.  Snow was transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital, further interviewed, and refused a blood sample.  Further medical evaluation of Snow was sustaining life threatening injuries and was transported via lifeflight to University of Vermont Medical Center. Snow was admitted into the hospital but, in stable condition.  He was later transported to CVPH for his recovery process, then later released.  Snow was processed at SP Massena and released on an appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Massena Court for a later date in March.

On February 25, 2024, Troopers arrested James C. Arquette, age 26, of Hogansburg, NY for driving while intoxicated and issued vehicle and traffic tickets.  On February 25, 2024, at approximately 7:50 p.m., Troopers responded to State Highway 37, in the town of Massena for a report of a property damage accident. An investigation determined; Arquette was operating a brown 2015 GMC Sierra pickup truck traveling east on State Highway 37 when he rear ended a gray 2020 Hyundai Santa fe.  Arquette fled the scene and was later located by St. Regis Tribal Police Department. Arquette was arrested and transported to SP Massena where he provided a breath sample of .14% BAC.  He was released on an appearance ticket returnable o the Town of Massena Court for a later date in March.
