Troopers investigate fatal motorcycle crash in Oneonta

On May 3, 2026, at approximately 1:52 p.m., New York State Police at Oneonta responded to a crash involving an SUV and a motorcycle at the intersection of State Highway 28 and County Highway 48 in the town of Oneonta.

An investigation at the scene determined that Patricia B. Howard, age 76 of Sidney, was operating a 2021 Honda CRV on County Highway 48 and began making a left turn onto State Highway 28 when she failed to observe a 2025 BMW motorcycle that had been traveling south on State Highway 28 with a group of motorcyclists.

The operator of the BMW motorcycle was unable to avoid the collision and struck Honda CRV.  The operator of the BMW motorcycle, identified as Gabriel Mizrahi, age 57 of Syosset, New York was provided care by another motorcyclist and civilians prior to EMS arrival. Mizrahi was transported to A.O Fox Hospital to be airlifted to a trauma center but succumbed to his injuries.

Investigators from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation responded to the scene to assist with collision reconstruction.

The investigation is on-going.
