On August 13, 2025, the New York State Police Troop K Traffic Incident Management Unit, in partnership with the New York State Department of Transportation, conducted an Operation Hard Hat enforcement detail along the Taconic State Parkway in Yorktown.
During the four-hour detail, Troopers issued 76 citations, including 32 for speeding, 8 for cell phone use, 2 for Move Over law violations, and other traffic offenses.
Operation Hard Hat aims to reduce reckless and distracted driving in highway work zones, protecting roadside workers, emergency responders, and motorists. Drivers are reminded to slow down, move over for stopped vehicles, avoid distractions, and obey posted signs in all work zones.
