Traffic Stop in Plattsburgh leads to drug arrest

On February 27, 2024, State Police members arrested Vernon N. Marlow III, age 39, of Plattsburgh, NY for criminal possession of a controlled substance 7th and  Francis P. Guerin, age 47, of Morrisonville, NY was arrested for criminal possession of a controlled substance 5th and issued vehicle and traffic tickets.

On February 27, 2024, at approximately 9:10 p.m., Troopers observed a gray 2005 Honda Odyssey traveling on I-87 in the town of Plattsburgh, fail to stop at stop sign when exiting the interstate.  Troopers initiated a traffic stop, interviewed the driver, who was identified as Guerin, and passenger was identified as Marlow.  While speaking to the driver and passenger, Troopers observed a glass smoking device, with burnt residue.  Guerin and Marlow were asking to exit the vehicle and a safety search was conducted.  Marlow was in possession of drug paraphernalia, which was identified as crack-cocaine.  A search of the vehicle revealed drug paraphernalia located in the driver door compartment, which was also identified as crack-cocaine.

Marlow and Guerin were arrested and transported to SP Plattsburgh for processing.  Marlow was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Plattsburgh Court for a later date in February.  Guerin was arraigned in the Town of Plattsburgh Court where he was released on his own recognizance.
