Traffic stop leads to drug arrest in Gouverneur

On June 8, 2024, New York State Police, Troop B- Violent Gangs and Narcotics Enforcement Team, charged Jason A. Guinup, age 44, of Gouverneur, New York, with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th (C- Felony), two (2) counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th (A-Misdemeanors), and one count of Public Health Law – Controlled Substance in Non-Original Container. 

These charges stem from a traffic stop conducted at approximately 5:30 p.m., by New York State Troopers, in the village of Gouverneur, for a vehicle having an expired registration.  During the traffic stop, Guinup was found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine, a quantity of Adderall pills, and a small amount of cocaine.  In additional to above charges, Guinup was also issued several traffic tickets, was arraigned in the town of Gouverneur Court and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility.
