On June 2, 2026, New York State Police charged Brenda J. Leroux, 31, Everett J. Russell, 50, and Cassandra C. Pelletier, 36, all of Burke, with Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
On May 24, 2026, at approximately 2:47 p.m., New York State Troopers responded to a residence on Callahan Road in the Town of Burke for a welfare check regarding the living conditions of children residing at the home.
An investigation determined that Leroux, Russell, and Pelletier were residing at the residence along with four children ranging in age from 1 to 10 years old.
While at the residence, troopers observed a strong odor of animal urine and feces throughout the home. During a walkthrough of the residence, troopers identified numerous unsanitary living conditions. Although the children were not found to be in imminent danger, troopers had significant concerns regarding the long-term health and welfare of the children.
New York State Police contacted Franklin County Child Protective Services (CPS). Following a joint investigation with CPS and consultation with the Franklin County District Attorney’s Office, it was determined that the residence was unsafe and that the children were not being properly cared for.
On June 2, 2026, Leroux, Russell, and Pelletier voluntarily reported to SP Malone, where they were processed on the charge of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
All three were issued appearance tickets and released. They are scheduled to appear in the Town of Burke Court at a later date in June.
