On December 17, 2023, at approximately 2:36 a.m. Troopers from the Greenville barracks (Orange County) responded to Interstate 84 westbound in the town of Greenville for a report of a vehicle involved in a single vehicle crash. Upon arrival, Troopers observed a 2006 Acura RSX off the roadway with damage. Troopers approached the vehicle to check for occupants and render first aid. They observed that there was only one occupant with the vehicle, and that individual was ejected. Troopers immediately began to evaluate the injuries of the driver and begin life saving measures. Port Jervis EMS arrived on scene determined that the individual had succumbed to his injuries. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The operator of the vehicle was identified as Christopher Martini, age 34 from Matamoras, Pennsylvania.
This incident is still under investigation.
