State Police in Troop G make notable DWI arrests 8/29- 9/12

On August 29, 2024, at about 10:14 p.m., State Police assigned to the Latham Interstate Patrol responded to the report of a vehicle into the guide rail on I-87 in Colonie, NY.  While enroute, witnesses reported the vehicle fled the location.  The investigation located the vehicle involved in the area of Central Avenue in Colonie, NY, where the driver was identified as Stefan H. Eriksen of Sheffield, MA.  Eriksen was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  He was transported to SP Latham for processing, where he recorded a 0.19% BAC.  Eriksen was issued tickets returnable to the Colonie Town Court on September 23, 2024, and released.

On September 1, 2024, at about 10:59 p.m., State Police assigned to the Northway Interstate Patrol responded to the reports of a one-vehicle crash into a sign on I-87 in Malta, NY.  The vehicle was located, and the uninjured driver was identified as David Z. Fahr, 28, of Ballston Lake, NY.  Fahr was arrested for Driving While intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  He was transported to SP Saratoga for processing, where he recorded a 0.18 % BAC.  Fahr was issued tickets returnable to the Malta Town Court on September 26, 2024, and released to a sober third party.

On September 2, 2024, at about 1:13 a.m. State Police of Clifton Park responded to the reports of a vehicle being driven erratically on I-87 northbound from Colonie.  Patrolled, located the vehicle matching the caller’s description on Grooms Road in Halfmoon, NY, and stopped it on Ponderosa Drive.  The driver was identified as Luis Celaloja, 36, of Albany, NY.  Celaloja was arrested for Driving While intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  He was transported to SP Clifton Park for processing, where he recorded a 0.20% BAC.  Celaloja was issued tickets returnable to the Halfmoon Town Court on September 25, 2024, and released to a sober third party.   

On September 2, 2024, at about 11:50 p.m., State Police of Brunswick responded to the reports of an unresponsive driver in a running vehicle on Brundige Road in Pittstown, NY.  Troopers made contact with the driver, who was identified as Daniel J. Giordano, 24, of Johnsonville, NY.  Giordano was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  He was transported to SP Brunswick for processing, where he recorded a 0.22% BAC.  Giordano was issued tickets returnable to the Pittstown Town Court on September 25, 2024, and released.

On September 3, 2024, at about 4:40 p.m., State Police of Wilton responded to the area of Reynolds Road in Moreau, NY, for the reports of a possibly impaired driver with children in the vehicle. Troopers interviewed the driver, Jennifer M. Pugliese, 44, of Hudson Falls, NY.  It was determined Pugliese had driven to the location with two children under the age of 16 who were turned over to a safe party. She was arrested for two counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child (Leandra’s Law), two counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. Pugliese was transported to SP Wilton for processing, where she recorded a 0.06% BAC, was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) and provided a sample to determine the drug content of her blood.  She was arraigned at the Moreau Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility without bail.

On September 4, 2024, at about 8:29 p.m., State Police of Queensbury stopped a vehicle on Bay Road in Queensbury, NY, for Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. The driver was identified as Jesse A. Lane, 32, of Glens Falls, NY, and two children under the age of 16 were located in the vehicle. The children were turned over to a family member. Lane was arrested for two counts of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child (Leandra’s Law), and a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. He was transported to SP Queensbury, where he refused to provide a sample to determine the alcohol content of his blood. Lane was issued tickets returnable to the Queensbury Town Court on September 23, 2024, and released.

On September 4, 2024, at about 9:59 p.m., State Police of Wilton responded to the area of Wembly Place in Moreau, NY, for the reports of a possibly intoxicated driver.  Troopers observed a vehicle matching the caller’s description and identified the driver as David J. Lais, 51, of Ballston Spa, NY.  Lais was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Unlicensed Operator in the first degree. He was transported to SP Wilton for processing, where he recorded a 0.18% BAC. Lais was arraigned at the Wilton Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility without bail.

On September 5, 2024, at about 5:30 a.m. State Police of Clifton Park responded to a one-car crash off the roadway of State Route 146 in Halfmoon, NY.  The uninjured driver was identified as April M. Fernet, 43, of, Mechanicville, NY. Fernet was arrested for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  While being taken into custody She was found to possess a glass smoking device containing drug residue and was also charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled substance.  A sample was taken to determine the drug content of Fernet’s blood and she was transported to SP Clifton Park for processing. Further investigation discovered Fernet has had a previous DWI conviction in the last ten years.  She was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Halfmoon Town Court on September 25, 2024, and released.

On September 5, 2024, at about 11:14 p.m., State Police of Schuylerville responded to the area of Green Street in Schuylerville, NY, for the reports of multiple crashes.  The investigation determined the driver, Emma Q. Bartholomay, 32, of Schuylerville, NY, was traveling north on Green Street and struck an unoccupied parked vehicle but failed to stop.  Bartholomay then struck another unoccupied parked vehicle near the intersection of Green Street and Ferry Street, at which time she stopped.  Troopers located her asleep but uninjured in the driver’s seat, with the vehicle still running when they arrived.  Bartholomay was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and numerous Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. She was transported to SP Schuylerville for processing, where she recorded a 0.25% BAC.  Bartholomay was issued tickets returnable to the Saratoga Town Court on October 1, 2024, and released.

On September 8, 2024, at about 9:36 p.m., State Police of Clifton Park stopped a vehicle on Central Avenue in Mechanicville, NY, for Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  The driver was identified as Eric W. Travis, 70, of Mechanicville, NY.  Travis was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  He was transported to SP Clifton Park for processing, where he recorded a 0.12% BAC.  Further investigation discovered Travis has had a previous DWI conviction in the last ten years.  He was issued tickets returnable to the Mechanicville City Court on October 9, 2024, and released.  

On September 10, 2024, at about 1:45 p.m., State Police of Queensbury received an erratic vehicle complaint in the area of Meadowbrook Road in Queensbury. The investigation located the vehicle involved at a residence in Queensbury, NY.  The driver was identified as Marcea Giacci-Greenspan, 62, of Queensbury, NY. Giacci-Greenspan was arrested for Driving While intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  She was transported to SP Queensbury for processing, where she recorded a 0.25% BAC. Giacci-Greenspan was issued tickets returnable to the Queensbury Town Court on October 7, 2024, and released to a sober third party.
