State Police in Troop G make notable DWI arrests 7/3- 7/11

On July 3, 2024, at about 11:03 p.m., State Police assigned to the Northway Interstate Patrol stopped a vehicle on I-87 in Malta, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation.  The driver was identified as Hannah E. Andrew, 38, of Lenox, MA.  A child under the age of 17 was also located in the vehicle.  Andrew was arrested for Driving While intoxicated with a child (Leandra’s Law), Endangering the Welfare of a Child and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  The child was turned over to a family member.   Andrew was transported to SP Clifton Park for processing, where she recorded a 0.12% BAC. She was issued tickets returnable to the Malta Town Court on July 18, 2024, and released to a sober party.

On July 3, 2024, at about 11:55 p.m., State Police of Clifton Park stopped a vehicle on Farm to Market Road in Clifton Park, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  The driver was identified as Jeremy J. Buechner, 45, of Saratoga Springs, NY.  Buechner was arrested for Driving While intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  He was transported to SP Clifton Park, where he recorded a 0.22% BAC.  Buechner was issued tickets returnable to the Clifton Park Town Court on July 24, 2024, and released to a sober party.

On July 4, 2024, at about 1:44 p.m., State Police assigned to the Latham Interstate Patrol responded to the report of a vehicle off the roadway in the area of I-787 in Watervliet, NY.  The driver was identified as Larry P. Wood, 66, of Watervliet, NY.  Wood was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to SP Latham for processing, where he recorded a 0.12% BAC. Further investigation discovered Wood has had a previous DWI conviction in the last ten years.  He was issued tickets returnable to the Watervliet City Court on July 16, 2024, and released to a sober third party.

On July 5, 2024, at about 2:05 a.m. State Police of Sand Lake stopped a vehicle on State Route 7 in Troy, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation.  The driver was identified as Keith Raphael, 41, of Troy, NY.  Raphael was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  He was transported to SP Latham for processing, where he recorded a 0.21% BAC.  Raphael was issued tickets returnable to the Troy City Court on August 29, 2024, and released.

On July 6, 2024, at about 10:08 p.m., State Police of Princetown stopped a vehicle on Freemans Bridge Road in Glenville, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. The driver was identified as Edward F. Simmons, 27, of Watertown, NY.  Another adult and child under the age of 17 were also located in the vehicle.  Simmons was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated with a Child and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  He was transported to SP Princetown for processing and recorded a 0.13% BAC.  Simmons was issued a ticket returnable to the Glenville Town Court on July 23, 2024, and released.   

On July 7, 2024, at about 12:46 a.m. State Police of New Scotland stopped a vehicle on Central Avenue in Albany, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation.  The driver was identified as Juan Loji, 40, of Albany, NY.  Loji was arrested for Driving While intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.  He was transported to SP Latham for processing, where he recorded a 0.24% BAC.  Loji was issued tickets returnable to the Albany City Court on July 31, 2024, and released to a sober third party.

On July 7, 2024, at about 12:31 p.m., State Police of Westerlo received the report of a possibly intoxicated driver in the area of State Route 32 in Feura Bush, NY (New Scotland).  Troopers patrolled the area and located a vehicle matching the caller’s description on Indian Fields Road and stopped the vehicle.  The driver was identified as Rachael M. Grady, 33, of Clarksville, NY.  Grady was arrested for Driving While intoxicated and transported to SP New Scotland for processing, where she recorded a 0.31% BAC.  Grady was issued tickets returnable to the New Scotland Town Court on July 25, 2024, and released.

On July 9, 2024, at about 10:39 p.m., while conducting an investigation, State Police of Chestertown spoke with an individual driving a vehicle in the area of State Route 9 in Lake George, NY.  The driver was identified as Shawn J. Planty, 51, of Warrensburg, NY. Also in the vehicle was a child under the age of 17.  Following the interview, Planty was arrested for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs with a Child (Leandra’s Law) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. The child was turned over to a family member.  Planty was transported to SP Queensbury for processing, where he refused a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) evaluation and also refused to provide a sample to determine the drug content of his blood.   He was then transported to the Warren County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
