State Police in Troop G make notable DWI arrests 2/16- 2/22

On February 16, 2024, at about 10:38 p.m., State Police assigned to the Latham Interstate Patrol stopped a vehicle on Van Rensselaer Boulevard in Albany, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. The driver was identified as Daniel R. Fitzpatrick, 53, of Albany, NY.  Fitzpatrick was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to SP Latham for processing, where he recorded a 0.21% BAC.  Fitzpatrick was issued tickets returnable to the Albany City Court on March 11, 2024, and released to a sober third party. 

On February 17, 2024, at about 12:13 a.m. State Police of the Capital responded to the area of Washington Avenue in Albany, NY after a vehicle was witnessed on video surveillance violating multiple Vehicle and Traffic Laws. Troopers patrolled the area and located the vehicle, observed and identified the driver as Christopher J. Quirk, 47, of Schenectady, NY.  Quirk was arrested for Driving While Ability Impaired by the Combined Influence of Drugs of Alcohol and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to SP Capital for processing, where he refused to provide a sample to determine the alcohol content of his blood. Further investigation discovered Quirk has had a previous DWI conviction in the last ten years. He was issued tickets returnable to the Albany City Court on February 26, 2024, and released to a sober third party. 

On February 18, 2024, at about 9:49 p.m., State Police of Clifton Park, while on patrol, witnessed a two-car crash on I-87 in Wilton, NY. One of the drivers was identified as John A. Spiegel Jr., 32, of Wappingers Falls, NY.  Spiegel was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. The driver and passenger of the second vehicle were transported to Saratoga Hospital with what is believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.  Spiegel was transported to SP Wilton for processing, where he refused to provide a sample to determine the alcohol content of his blood. Further investigations discovered Spiegel has had multiple DWI convictions in the last ten years. He was arraigned at the Milton Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility without Bail.

On February 19, 2024, at about 5:22 p.m., State Police of Wilton responded to Jones Road in Wilton, NY, for the report of a suspicious vehicle. Troopers located the vehicle matching the caller’s description parked in a pull-off on Jones Road. The driver, who initially appeared asleep, was identified as Rosemary E. Gorman, 62, of Ballston Spa, NY.  Gorman was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, at which time she actively resisted and refused to cooperate with the investigation. As a result, she was additionally charged with Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration in the second degree.   Gorman was transported to SP Wilton for processing, where she recorded a 0.20% BAC. She was issued tickets returnable to the Wilton Town Court on March 12, 2024, and released to a sober third party.
