State Police in Troop G make notable DWI arrests 1/11-1/16

** On December 15, 2023, at about 4:39 a.m., while on patrol, State Police of Princetown observed a disabled vehicle that had struck the guide rail in the area of State Route 5S in Florida, NY. The driver was identified as Jessica L. Sievers, 37, of Florida, NY.  Sievers, who was uncooperative during the investigation, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. She was transported to SP Princetown, where she refused to cooperate with processing or provide a sample to determine the alcohol content of her blood. Further investigation discovered Sievers has had a previous DWI conviction in the last ten years. She was arraigned at the Florida Town Court and released on her own recognizance.  Sievers returned to SP Princetown on January 13, 2024, due to a court order to do so and was processed for the arrest.

On January 11, 2024, at about 12:55 p.m., State Police of Schodack observed a vehicle having just struck a utility pole and then a vertical barrier in the area of Columbia Turnpike in Schodack, NY. The vehicle's driver was identified as James J. Smith, 62, of East Greenbush, NY. Smith was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to SP Brunswick for processing, where he recorded a 0.29% BAC.  Smith was issued tickets returnable to the Schodack Town Court on January 24, 2024, and released to a sober third party.  

On January 11, 2024, at about 8:33 p.m., State Police of Saratoga responded to the area of State Route 67 in Milton, NY, for the report of a one-car rollover crash. The driver was witnessed leaving the scene of the crash on foot. A search of the area with the assistance of the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office located the driver, Michael J. Kulls, 42, of Saratoga Springs, NY, on foot approximately 1.5 miles from the crash.  Kulls was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to SP Saratoga for processing, where he refused to provide a sample to determine the alcohol content of his blood. Further investigation discovered that Kulls has had a previous DWI conviction in the last ten years. He was arraigned at the Malta Town Court and remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility without bail

On January 11, 2024, at about 9:45 p.m., State Police of Princetown stopped a vehicle on Erie Boulevard in Schenectady, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. The driver was identified as Burtil B. Bagot, 40, of Schenectady, NY. A child under the age of 16 was located in the vehicle at the time of the stop.  Bagot was uncooperative with the investigation and resisted arrest while being taken into custody for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child (Leandra’s Law), Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. His actions resulted in the additional charges of Obstructing Governmental Administration in the second degree and Resisting Arrest.  Bagot was transported to SP Princetown for processing, where he refused to provide a sample to determine the alcohol content of his blood. The child was turned over to a family member.   Bagot was transported to the Schenectady County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.  

On January 13, 2024, at about 5:27 p.m., State Police of Cobleskill responded to the report of a vehicle off the roadway in the area of State Route 10 in Richmondville, NY. The driver was located uninjured and identified as Karol Giembic, 43, of Stamford, NY.  Giembic was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to SP Cobleskill for processing, where he refused to provide a sample to determine the alcohol content of his blood. Further investigation discovered Giembic has had a previous DWI conviction in the last ten years.  Giembic was transported to the Schoharie County Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
