State Police Investigating a Shooting in Lockport

UPDATE - On September 26, 2023, at 6:00 P.M., the Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested Jerry Torres Jr., 25 of Lockport, NY for Assault 1st degree (B Felony), Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree (C Felony).

On September 25, 2023 at approximately 7:40 P.M., Troopers out of SP Lockport responded to a possible shooting at Wendy’s on South Transit Road in the town of Lockport. Investigation determined a group of individuals were arguing in the parking lot and Torres brandished a weapon then shot a 24-year-old in the leg. Torres fled the scene. The victim was taken by ambulance for non-life-threatening injuries to Erie County Medical Center. The Glock 9mm was located. Torres did not have a pistol permit. Torres turned himself in at SP Lockport on September 26, 2023. Torres was processed and is being held at the Niagara County Jail pending arraignment.

NYSP Bureau of Criminal Investigation, Forensic Identification Unit, Niagara County District Attorney’s Office, Niagara County Sheriff’s Office and the Lockport Police Department are assisting.
