State Police investigating fatal motorcycle accident in the town of Clarkstown

On August 24, 2024, at approximately 11:26 p.m., State Police were called to Interstate 87, near mile marker 18.5, in the town of Clarkstown for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a motorcycle. 

A preliminary investigation determined that Michael A. DiPierno, 22, of Nyack, was traveling on Interstate 87 northbound at a high rate of speed when he lost control of the motorcycle and struck a guiderail. 

During the investigation, it was determined that after hitting the guiderail, DiPierno was then struck by another vehicle.

DiPierno was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The investigation is ongoing.
