On August 12, 2024, at approximately 2:40 p.m., State Police were called to the intersection of Stoneleigh Avenue and Route 202 in the town of Somers for a report of a car accident involving a motorcycle.
A preliminary investigation determined that a Mercedes Benz, operated by Robyn B. Silverstein, 60, of Kent Lakes, was traveling northeast on Route 202 and attempted to turn left onto Stoneleigh Avenue.
During the investigation, it was determined that Silverstein turned into the path of a Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by James T. Herring, Jr., 50, of Port Chester, traveling southwest on Route 202, causing Herring to strike the passenger side of Silverstein’s car.
Herring was transported to Westchester Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The investigation is ongoing.
