State Police Investigate Tractor Trailer Roll Over Crash in Jefferson County

On July 9, 2024, at about 4:09 p.m. New York State Police responded to a personal injury accident on State Route 3 in the town of Hounsfield.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a tractor-trailer, operated by Nicholas J Aldous, age 27, from Sackets Harbor, was traveling east on State Route 3 and beginning to turn north on State Route 180 when the load shifted, causing it to overturn onto the passenger side. Thirty gallons of diesel fuel and motor oil were spilled.

Aldous was transported by ambulance to Samaritan Medical Center for minor injuries and issued numerous traffic tickets.

New York State Police were assisted on the scene by NYSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, Jefferson County Sheriffs, NY DEC Spill Response, Sackets Harbor Fire Department, and Sackets Harbor Ambulance.
