On August 29, 2025, the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) at Livingston received a report of a threat directed at a Taconic Hills Central School District student through the gaming platform Roblox.
Roblox cooperated fully with investigators, and it was determined that the reported threat was false in nature. There is no danger to the school or the public in connection with this incident.
The New York State Police remind parents to remain mindful of their children’s online activity. Security settings on many platforms can be adjusted to safeguard children from communication with unknown individuals. Parents are also encouraged to educate their children on the importance of internet safety and to report any suspicious activity to law enforcement.
The New York State Police would also like to thank the Columbia County District Attorney’s Office and the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance in this investigation.
