On August 28, 2026, at approximately 12:50 a.m., Troopers out of the State Police Greenville barracks responded to a report of a fully engulfed residential structure fire on Darraugh Lane in Sparrowbush, NY.
The Sparrowbush Fire Department responded to the residence and extinguished the fire. Following the fire, a deceased individual was discovered inside the residence. Due to the severity of the burns, the victim could not be positively identified.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. There is no evidence of foul play.
The investigation, being performed by the State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation from the Middletown barracks, the Orange County Fire Investigation Unit, and the Orange County Medical Examiner’s Office, is ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
