State Police investigate a fatal accident on US Highway 11 in the town of Dekalb

On February 9, 2024, Troopers responded to a serious personal injury accident on US Highway 11, in the town of Dekalb.

A preliminary investigation revealed a black Mitsubishi Glant operated by Pamela N. Moyer, age 65, of Hermon, NY entered US Highway 11 from the East Dekalb Road and failed to yield the right of way to a black 2017 UPS truck, operated by Dennis R. McNamara, age 49, of West Chazy, NY.

Passengers in the Mitsubishi Glant, Pearl Wishney, age 91, of Hermon, NY, Gabriel Z. Moyer, age 20, of Hermon, NY and Pamela were transported to Canton-Potsdam Hospital sustaining injuries.  Wishney was pronounced deceased at the hospital.  Pamela was transported to Upstate Medical Center due to the severity of her injuries and is in critical condition.  Gabriel was evaluated and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

McNamara was uninjured from the accident.

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene. State Police were assisted at the scene by local fire and rescue teams.
