State Police arrests Putnam man for recklessly discharging a firearm
Press Release

On December 26, 2023, State Police of Greenwich arrested Dustin T. St Andrews, 31, of Putnam, NY, for Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree and two counts of Reckless Endangerment in the first degree.

On December 26, 2023, at about 6:08 p.m., Troopers responded to a home in Putman, NY, for the report of an individual threatening the use of a firearm. The investigation determined St Andrews was in a verbal altercation with a victim. During the dispute, St Andrews reportedly retrieved and discharged a long gun recklessly inside the home, all while threatening to kill the victims and responding law enforcement. Two victims were present at the time the long gun was discharged; neither were injured. Further investigation determined St Andrews could not legally possess any firearm due to a previous felony conviction.

St Andrews had left the location prior to Law Enforcement's arrival but was later located with the assistance of the Ticonderoga Police Department in Ticonderoga, NY, where he was taken into custody. He was transported to SP Granville for processing.  St Andrews was then turned over to the Washington County Correctional Facility to await arraignment. The firearm used during this incident has been recovered and seized.
