State Police arrest Watervliet man for Assault following an injured child investigation

On June 19, 2024, State Police of Clifton Park, NY, arrested Jayvion A. Smith, 20, of Watervliet, NY, for Assault in the second degree and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

On June 19, 2024, at about 2:14 p.m., Troopers received information that a child located in Halfmoon, NY, had unexplained bruising.  The investigation determined that on May 17, 2024, a toddler was left under the supervision of Smith. While watching the child, Smith reportedly disciplined the toddler, resulting in visible bruising. The child was evaluated by a medical professional and is expected to recover fully.

Smith was arrested and processed at SP Clifton Park.  He was arraigned at the Malta Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
