On January 7, 2026, State Police of Clifton Park, with the assistance of the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce and the Troop G Computer Crimes Unit, arrested Douglas J. McCann, 48, of Waterford, NY, for
- Thirteen counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd, a class “D” felony
- Six counts of Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a class “E” felony
- Two counts of Unlawful Possession of Certain Ammunition Feeding Devices, a violation
On January 7, 2026, an investigation led by the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce resulted in the execution of a search warrant of McCann’s residence and vehicle. During the execution of the warrant, electronics, numerous illegally possessed firearms, and high-capacity magazines were located and seized.
McCann surrendered himself to SP Clifton Park later that day, where he was arrested and processed on the weapon possession charges. He was then arraigned at the Waterford Town Court, where he was remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 cash, $40,000 bond, or a $200,000 partially secured bond.
During the continued investigation, the analysis of the seized electronics located images consistent with child sexual exploitation. On January 21, 2026, McCann again surrendered himself to SP Clifton Park, where he was arrested and processed on the additional charge of Possessing a Sexual Performance by a Child Less Than 16 Years of Age, a class E felony
McCann was arraigned at the Waterford Town Court, where he was released on his own recognizance and scheduled to appear on February 12, 2026 at 6 pm.
