State Police Arrest Valatie Man Twice Following Domestic Disturbance and Order of Protection Violation

Press Release

On July 29, 2025, at approximately 10:24 PM, Troopers from the State Police Kinderhook barracks responded to a report of a possible domestic disturbance at a private residence on Herrick Road in the Village of Valatie.

Upon arrival, officers discovered an active 911 call with a woman screaming in the background. The investigation revealed that Mickey Miller, 56, and his partner were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated into a physical incident.

During the altercation, Miller reportedly grabbed a knife and threatened both his partner and a two-month-old child. He then entered a bedroom and threw an unidentified object, which struck the infant on the head.

Miller was taken into custody without incident. Both victims were transported to Albany Medical Center for evaluation of their injuries.

Miller was charged with Menacing in the Second Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child — all class A misdemeanors. He was arraigned in Stuyvesant Town Court and released to probation. A full stay-away order of protection was issued for both victims.

On July 31, 2025, Miller was arrested again and charged with Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, also a class A misdemeanor, for violating the order of protection by returning to the victims’ residence. He was arraigned in the Town of Stuyvesant and remanded to Columbia County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash, $75,000 bond, or $100,000 partially secured bond.

Miller is scheduled to appear before the Town of Kinderhook Court on August 5, 2025, at 5:00 PM.

The investigation remains ongoing.
