State Police Arrest Two Kerhonkson Residents on Burglary and Drug Charges

The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) at Ellenville announces the arrest of Jessica M. Countryman, age 47, and Brian E. Coyne, age 45, both of Kerhonkson, NY, on burglary and drug-related charges.

The investigation began on October 26, 2025, at approximately 4:21 p.m., when troopers from the State Police Ellenville barracks responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence on Porth Road in Kerhonkson, NY.

A “Be On the Lookout” (BOLO) alert was issued with the suspects’ description and vehicle information. A short time later, troopers located a pair of suspects who matched the description at a nearby business. When troopers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Route 209, the suspects failed to comply, and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit was successfully terminated after the deployment of a tire deflation device (“stinger”) on Watson Hollow Road, in the Town of Olive. Both Countryman and Coyne were arrested and charged with the following:

Coyne was charged with:

·         Five counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Class A Misdemeanor

·         Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree, Class A Misdemeanor

·         Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended Registration, Class A Misdemeanor

·         Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 3rd Degree, Unclassified Misdemeanor

·         Reckless Driving, Unclassified Misdemeanor

·         Multiple New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law Infractions

Countryman was charged with:

·         Five counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Class A Misdemeanor

Further investigation revealed that Countryman and Coyne arrived at the property on Porth on October 26, 2025, and forcibly entered a shed.  The suspects fled the scene in a Ford truck prior to troopers’ arrival.

On October 30, 2025, troopers observed Countryman and Coyne traveling northbound on 42nd Street in the Town of Wawarsing in a 2002 Chevrolet. Troopers initiated a traffic stop, and both subjects were placed into custody without incident.

As a result of the burglary investigation, Coyne was charged with:

·         Burglary 3rd Degree, Illegal Entry with Intent to Commit a Crime, Class D Felony

·         Possession of Burglar’s Tools, Class A Misdemeanor

·         Criminal Mischief 4th Degree, Class A Misdemeanor

·         Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Class A Misdemeanor

                              

Jessica M. Countryman was charged with:

·         Burglary 3rd Degree, Illegal Entry with Intent to Commit a Crime, Class D Felony

·         Three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Class A Misdemeanor

·         New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law Infraction

Both Countryman and Coyne were transported to the State Police Ellenville barracks for processing and then transported to Ulster County Jail Central Arraignment Part for arraignment and released pending a future court date in Rochester Town Court on October 31, 2025.
