On February 8, 2024, State Police of Latham arrested Joshua D. Campbell, 24, of Albany, NY for Trademark Counterfeiting in the third degree, Petit Larceny, Scheme to Defraud in the second degree, Attempted Trademark Counterfeiting in the third degree and resisting arrest.
Danielle J. Ellis, 23, of Hudson, NY, was also arrested for Trademark Counterfeiting in the third degree, Petit Larceny, Scheme to Defraud in the second degree, and Attempted Trademark Counterfeiting in the third degree.
On February 7, 2024, at about 10:30 a.m. Troopers received a complaint from a Saratoga County, NY resident. The investigation determined Campbell and Ellis reportedly worked together to sell the victim a counterfeit electronic device via Facebook Marketplace in Albany, NY. The item was reportedly advertised, packaged, and sold utilizing a counterfeit Apple trademark.
Campbell was taken into custody in Albany, NY, and found to be in possession of an additional item bearing a counterfeit trademark. While being arrested, Campbell actively resisted and was transported to SP Latham for processing. Campbell was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Albany City Court on February 26, 2024, and released.
Ellis was arrested and processed at SP Latham. She was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Albany City Court on February 27, 2024, and released.
