State Police arrest three following stolen vehicle investigation

On December 2, 2025, State Police of Latham arrested:

Robert K. Bigness, 38 of Valatie, NY for:

  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fourth degree, a class “E” felony
  • Grand Larceny in the fourth degree
  • Driving While Ability Impaired by the Combined Influence of Drugs or of Alcohol and any Drug or Drugs
  • Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the first degree

Jude J. Roy, 39 of Rensselaer, NY for:

  • Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fourth degree, a class “E” felony
  • Two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the seventh degree, a class “A” misdemeanor  
  • Criminally Using Drug Paraphernalia in the second degree, a class “A” misdemeanor  

Molly S. Novakowski 36 of Albany, NY was also arrested for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the fourth degree, a class “E” felony.

 

On December 2, 2025, at about 11:00 a.m. troopers responded to the area of New Scotland Road in Slingerlands, NY for the report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle was located with the assistance of the Albany County Sheriff’s Office on North Manning Avenue in Albany, NY. The vehicle was being driven by Bigness. Roy and Novakowski were passengers in the vehicle. All three were taken into custody. Roy was determined to possess a controlled substance and a glass smoking device containing drug residue. During the interview of Bigness troopers observed signs of impairment. Further investigation discovered Bigness allegedly stole the vehicle from the victim who is known to him without their knowledge or permission.

All three were transported to SP Guilderland for processing where a blood sample was taken from Bigness to determine the drug and alcohol content of his blood. All three were issued appearance tickets returnable to the Albany City Court on December 9, 2025, and released.
