State Police arrest St. Johnsville man following intentional crash

On October 23, 2024, State Police arrested Raymond W. Matis, 53, of Saint Johnsville, NY, for Burglary in the third degree, Criminal Mischief in the third degree, and two counts of Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree.

On October 23, 2024, at about 8:03 a.m. Troopers responded to the reports of a disturbance in the area of State Route 67 in Ephratah, NY. The investigation determined Matis drove his vehicle to the location and allegedly intentionally struck an unoccupied vehicle in the parking lot, pushing it into the building.  Matis then reportedly entered the building without permission and, using a bat, caused damage to items inside.  While Troopers were en route, Matis allegedly approached another occupied vehicle and struck it multiple times with the bat, causing significant damage. No one was injured during the incident.

Matis was arrested at the scene and transported to SP Fonda for processing.  He was then transported to the Fulton Court Correctional Facility to await arraignment.
