State Police arrest Saratoga County Youth for Making a Terroristic Threat

On June 17, 2025, the State Police of Clifton Park with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Joint Terrorism Task Force, and Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 17-year-old Halfmoon resident for Making a Threat of Mass Harm.

An investigation was initiated when State Police received information about a 17-year-old that had been observed making concerning statements of violence online. Further investigation led to the execution of a search warrant of the 17-year-old’s Halfmoon, NY home where written and other electronic media supporting acts of terrorism were located. In addition, incendiary device-making material, instruction manuals on how to make incendiary devices, and other weapons were seized.  

The adolescent offender was arrested and transported to SP Clifton Park for processing. They were then released to a guardian and referred to Saratoga County Probation Department.

On July 3, 2025, after further review of the evidence collected from the residence and in partnership with the Saratoga County District Attorney’s office the 17-year-old was processed on the additional charges of Soliciting or Providing Support for an Act of Terrorism in the second degree, and Criminal Possession of a Chemical Weapon or Biological Weapon in the first degree. They were arraigned at the Saratoga County Youth Part Court and remanded without bail to the Capital District Juvenile Secure Detention Center in Albany, NY.
