State Police Arrest New Jersey Man for DWI on the Sprain Brook Parkway

On June 13, 2026, at approximately 2:08 a.m., New York State Police in Hawthorne conducted a welfare check on the operator of a Subaru that had run out of fuel and was parked on the shoulder of the southbound Sprain Brook Parkway near mile marker 2.5 in the City of Yonkers.

During the interaction, the operator, identified as Belvis Colon, 47, of Passaic, New Jersey, exhibited signs of intoxication. Standardized Field Sobriety Tests were administered, which he subsequently failed.

Colon was taken into custody and transported to State Police Hawthorne for processing, where he submitted to a chemical breath test, resulting in a blood alcohol content (BAC) of 0.21%.

As a result of the investigation, Colon was charged with:

• Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (BAC of .18% or More), an unclassified misdemeanor
• Driving While Intoxicated – First Offense, an unclassified misdemeanor
• Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree, a misdemeanor

Colon was issued appearance tickets returnable to the Yonkers City Court on July 10, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
