On February 13, 2025, State Police arrested Christian M. Callen, age 49, from Mohawk, NY, on the following charges:
- Arson 2nd degree (class “B” felony)
- Assault 2nd degree (class “D” felony)
- Criminal Mischief 2nd (class “D” felony)
- Strangulation 2nd (class “D” felony)
- Assault 3rd degree (class “A” misdemeanor)
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child (class “A” misdemeanor)
On February 13, 2025, at about 6:30 a.m., Herkimer County 911 received a call reporting a domestic dispute at a residence on Hicks Road in the town of Warren. According to reports, Callen set fire to the bedroom floor before entering his vehicle and ramming multiple cars in the driveway.
Upon arrival, State Police took Callen into custody and interviewed witnesses. A preliminary investigation revealed he had allegedly assaulted and choked a female victim during an altercation. An elderly witness stated they attempted to intervene and sustained physical injuries. During the incident, Callen ignited a section of the house, but people inside the household were able to extinguish the flames before police arrived. He then went outside and used his truck to ram two other vehicles, causing significant damage
Callen was transported to Wynn Hospital for a medical evaluation before being returned to the State Police barracks in Herkimer for processing.
Callen was arraigned in the Town of German Flatts Court where he was remanded to the Herkimer County Jail on $50,000 cash/$100,000 bond. Callen is due back in the Town of Warren Court on March 11, 2025, at 6:00 p.m.
