

On Monday, June 3, 2024, around 5:15 a.m., State Police in Watertown responded to a reported fire at 104 E Kirby Street in the Village of Dexter.
Investigation determined Adam A. Stafford, age 55, of Dexter, NY, approached the back of an occupied parked vehicle and threw a flammable substance on it. Stafford then set the vehicle on fire. The victim was able to escape from the vehicle with no injuries.
Stafford proceeded to flee on foot south to the Dexter Market located 308 Brown Street. Stafford went to the east side of the building, and poured a flammable substance on items against the building and set them on fire. No injuries were reported.
Stafford was arrested for Arson 2nd (class “B” felony), Arson 3rd (class “C” felony), Reckless endangerment 1st (class “D” felony). He was arraigned at Jefferson County CAP court and remanded at Jefferson County Correctional Facility in lieu of $25,000 cash, $50,000 bond, and $75,000 partially secured bond.
