On September 25, 2024, State Police in Fonda, with the assistance of the Federal Bureau of Investigations- Joint Terrorism Task Force, arrested Justin B. Oconnor, 54, of Canajoharie, NY, for Making a Terroristic Threat, three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree and Unlawful Purchase of Body Armor.
On September 24, 2024, Troopers received information that multiple terroristic threats had been made via a social media platform. The investigation revealed Justin B. Oconnor allegedly controlled the account where the threats originated. He is reportedly responsible for numerous threats directed towards multiple public officials, Law enforcement officers and protected groups of people.
The investigation resulted in the issuance of a Temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order, which was executed on September 25, 2024, that resulted in the discovery of an illegally possessed gun, body armor and multiple illegal high-capacity magazines in Oconnor’s home.
Oconnor was arrested at his home and transported to SP Fonda for processing. He was arraigned at the Canajoharie Town Court and remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 cash, $40,000 bond, or a $60,000 partially secured bond.
